... you'll need some way of detecting what resources there are above ground, and under ground, especially in terms of things they can use, like oil or minerals that can be mined to be converted into parts for that ship. You'll need an entire infrastructure to help convert those into something the Adamant or the people can use, in one way or another. Alternately, a quick fix that allows everyone to magically go where they need to be, considering magic seems to be a possibility now.
All of that likely won't happen overnight; certainly not in the three years they've been here.
