[ Cal opens his mouth to reply, but immediately closes it in surprise when he feels something... strange in the Force, like a surge of energy that feels very linked to the girl sitting across from him. Not good or bad, really, so much as just odd—at least to him.

And judging by the way she'd dropped her fork the moment he sensed it, he kind of gets the impression he's not the only one who felt it, but he's not sure what to do with that information either. She doesn't feel Force-sensitive to him, but he's not sure he trusts his senses enough to be confident in that. His skills are still a little rusty there.

BD-1, for his part, is completely oblivious, so the droid is actually the one who responds first with a series of beeps that are completely unintelligible to anyone but Cal. He snaps out of his confusion—he'll have to puzzle the mystery out later, maybe in meditation—and translates: ]

He says it's alright. And he's sorry for shining his spotlight in your eyes like that.

[ As for her question, Cal can answer that himself. ]

I didn't—I definitely can't assemble a droid from scratch. He's a BD unit explorer droid that I picked up a little while ago on this old, uncharted planet, Bogano. [ BD-1 trills in protest, and Cal corrects himself with a smile. ] Right, we picked each other up.
