The reaction he gets will depend entirely upon the people around him (and you are therefore free to craft the reaction you would best enjoy!) Some of the survivors will shrug and carry on indifferently — hey, they've seen stranger! Some of them will be frightened, some will be aggressive and ask him what the Hell does he think he's doing?

The head of engineering, Thorkil, will most likely find it to be spectacular, and he will have all sorts of friendly questions for Ian about what it is, how he got the power, and what else he can do with his magic! Most of the engineering division will follow his lead — but not all. If you would like to use this as an opportunity to explore light conflict with the locals, you are free to do so without our oversight!
