[Luckily, in addition to Old Norse, Eivor also understands Old English. Unluckily, these letters do not look anything like what constitutes written English in the 9th century.

She's surprised and curious that the crow is getting slow close to her, a tool in its beak... and then it scratches in the dirt, creating very intentional symbols. She's less surprised and more alarmed now: is this a person under some kind of curse? Is it a god? (If it were a god, she feels like this wouldn't be going in such a straightforward way, so she crosses that possibility off the list.)

Frowning, she drops down into a crouch so she can study the symbols. Sýnin doesn't care for the sudden movement and croaks indignantly.]


Hu...m...s? [This is complete gibberish. She shakes her head, glancing up at the crow.] You can understand my speech?
