she recognises him at once, of course: he had been useful during the journey to the adamant, and he had known how to handle the more... grisly situations aboard the ship. all things considered, she had thus far filed him under 'competent', so this question comes a little out of left field for her.

he seemed to be so versed in the ways of the world, is all.

not that the point he makes is bad, per se. she cocks her head to the side, considering the new angle, though not with any kindness.


Isn't that worse? I am sure they would be glad to know them dead. ⟪ she watches him, not quite immune to some curiosity regarding his own take here. ⟫ Otherwise they would have to bear the shame of their failure.
