I think Rémi's warming up to me.
[ An easy grin as Sam holds up two acid shields, one for each of his companions. He himself as his own shield that protects him, and the wings resist the acid too, should they get caught out in a surprise rain shower. ]
So, full disclosure... I may have exaggerated about the view. And the local attractions. Kind of. [ Redwing circles closer, and Sam has the drone project a image on a nearby wall that looks suspiciously like small underground tunnels. ]
I sent Redwing into the mole tunnels after we deal with those critters. Looks like they came from the direction of the rat warrens - you guys remember our little rescue mission there few weeks ago? I wanna swing around back there and have a look. Got a bit of a bad feeling we might have kicked this little invasion loose ourselves. Figure given the research job that was posted, we could kill two acid spitting birds with one stone. Could get some readings about the tunnels and see if we can prevent another mole uprising...

It does make sense that they'd be connected. As much as most animate life here seems adapted to subterranean life, these have been the only two burrowing mammals we've seen. Also the only mammals- for lack of better taxonomic classification given the venom and tentacles- that we've seen.
I've trained Crow to let us know when there's a scent trail as well. I'm going to be hungry for a day or two, but he'll be reliable. [ He nods down to the cat/bird creature, who looks up from licking his paw when he hears his name mentioned, tilting his head upward at the humans around him. He chuffs slightly, as if knowing this task is below him, but he's deigning to co-operate for Alex's sake. Someone has to keep his pet nerd safe, after all. ]
